They were probably lagging.
I can give out tips for shield’s and how they work if you like. The only weapons that get past shield are cannonade and melee weapons….so far as I know…

A great skill to combine with this weapon would be Detect or SP bonus. Because most pauses can be removed with a side dash or a normal dash.

The best time to use detect is in places like neden areas and station areas. Partially useful in chaser too. The chaser powers up the skill so that the range is much longer. Detect is very important, especially for those who seem to feel people come out of nowhere.
I can tell you I have a lot of fun in DM with this item.

There is no mention of the vulnerability you face while flying. Generally, being in the air makes you visible to quite a few enemies.
